Empathy - We all have issues, deficits, and problems.
Awareness - Switching from "background" to "foreground."
Love - the presence or lack of which is the determinant of health or illness
Insight - the ability to make sense of one's experiences
Nearness - the necessity of intimacy with others
God - However defined, there must be the sense of the transcendent.
The mind is an intricate mechanism that is very resilient, yet easily damaged. Most of us have not "lost our minds," so to speak, but many of us have gotten lost in the pathways of our minds, bringing loss, confusion, and pain to ourselves and others. It may come as a surprise to many, but healing from damaged, painful emotions is not dissimilar to healing from a broken leg, toothache, touching a hot stove, or any other physical injury. Emotional injury has become stigmatized and is only recently recognized as not indicative of a person's moral or spiritual health.
At WellSpring Lifestyle Retreat and at the Vibrant Life Health Discussion Group, we pass no judgments on people. We are simply here to help other wounded healers back to complete health. We have a Biblical basis for this and would be happy to share what we know in that realm. But first and foremost, we are here to help. Let's work on our healing together.
Below you will find seminar notes on recovering from painful relationships.
